Who am I ?

Katie Flowers
artmaking for creativity, insight and healing

My name is Katie Flowers, I have been artist all my life, I grew up in England and have been a practicing art educator in UK and Hong Kong for over 30 years,  working within international and local school settings as well as facilitating art projects in the local Hong Kong community through my work with the Youth Arts Festival, working in refugee camps, correctional centres, orphanages and other populations.

My work with children, teens, adults, in many settings, has enabled me to experience and observe the powerful creative life force that abides within everybody and to witness the profound healing potential that can result from making art and reconnecting with ones creativity. I believe that art making helps people to build self-expressive tools which can enable growth, connection and healing, throughout times of crisis, illness, stress, transition and challenge. This is based on many years of group work as well as my personal first hand experience of maintaining a lifelong Visual Art Journaling practice.

I recently completed my  Art Therapy training at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute and now work with various groups in Hong Kong and develop opportunities for wellness and healing in companies and schools, themes include personal growth, insight, self-image, stress management, anxiety, depression, body image and transitions. She also offers one on one private sessions at her private practice Wild at Art Studio in Central. Wild at Art workshops are designed to offer people opportunities to create within a safe therapeutic space, through art making projects which can lead to positive change and personal growth, healing and connection.

Katie is a professional member of Canadian Art Therapy Association and Hong Kong Association of Art Therapists.
