A wild and very Artfilled year!

Happy New Year Wild at Art Family! Its been a very busy full on Art Filled year for 2015! How exciting and there's always more art adventures to come !  Claire and I have spent some fabulous weekends with you all, here's a small peek at your creative moments!

Wild at Art Joyous Journalling May and November 2015

2 x wonderful weekend workshops at the Aberdeen Boat Club where Claire and I watched you all transform a blank sketchbook into a place of personal art-play fun and exploration. People experimented with materials, practised sketching collage and painting and went home and then did even more !

Wild at Art Mums and daughters May and October 2015

Mums and daughters came together to co-create, and honour each other and their relationship whilst making a truly  personalised "art shrine" for themselves. These were joyous and thoughtful day workshops; we were honoured to share your thoughts, stories and creativity.

Wild at Art Mandala Journey weekends April and October 2015

These retreat weekends in the mountains continue to bring joy to the Wild at Art bosom! Watching people begin an artmaking practice and also deepen that practice through their artistic experiments, is exciting, stimulating and nourishing for all of us !

Wild at Art field trips, April 2015

In April Claire and I were lucky enough courtesy of HKIS to get to travel the  NAEA Art conference in New Orleans and work with none other than the Journal Fodder Junkies, fabulous blokes who teach art journalling! Very special and we were of course also forced to enjoy the magic of New Orleans and all that Jazz!  As a huge contrast I then returned and travelled to Cat Ventura's Body Mapping Art Retreat in the spring time, sakura filled countryside of Japan painting in the open air and enjoying  tea ceremonies and onsens.

Wild at Art summer UK workshops July 2015

Very luckily for me, the wonderful Lu Shorthose invited me to teach at the Surrey Wildlife Trust this summer and I spent a wonderful day sketching in the outdoors recording the landscape and various "small moments" with a trusty group of local sketchers, followed by a Mandala day at Eve's Garden Studio in Hampshire, attended by local creatives, my family and friends and even people from Hong Kong ! Thanks to Christine Dodd who runs this lovely studio at the Weyhill Farm.

Call of the Wild Soul Liverpool 2015

Alongside my lovely COTWS art friends in UK, we attended a 3 day journalling workshop with Orly Avinieri in the amazingly vibrant city of Liverpool ! What fun, its great to be challenged to move into new territory and outside comfort zones to try new ideas! I continue to art journal throughout the year, it's a compulsive practice which I love as I can pick it up and put it down wherever I am !

My own mandala paintings 2015

I continue to grow and build this practice, from small canvases to the 2 x foot square commission I have just finished for my lovely Yoga Teacher, Charlotte Douglas. These images are currently being printed into a range of greeting cards and will be available in about 3 weeks!

Last of all, workshops 2015 !

I started the year with Mandala workshops at Jenny Smiths Yoga studio, then offering a summer afternoon at the Red Door Studio and ended the year with gorgeous winter wonderland and Xmas mandalas at the Alive Wellness Centre.

Claire and I have also been beavering away in our waterfall artroom with the glorious young children of Hong Kong International school, if you would like to follow those arty adventures please check in The Magic Dot.

What a great artful year its been and wonderful to be growing this fabulous family of creatives who are travelling the journey with myself and Claire! Look forwards to working with you all during 2016 for more Wild at Art adventures !

I leave you with Karen Ward's Star Wars Mandala and will only say this............

May the Force be with you !
Create, you must!

Artfully yours

Katie
